We received a great service from Carol. Highly professional and supportive, especially as we dealing with an estate linking to the passing of a loved one. Nothing was ever too much trouble and always as good as her word.

FAQs
Commonly Asked Questions
Can’t find what you’re looking for?
Get in touch and one of our solicitors will get back to you.
How can I make a will?
The easiest way to make a will is to speak to a solicitor. At Black Norman, we have a variety of specialists that can help you with will writing, so get in touch.
How do I get a Lasting Power of Attorney?
To set up an LPA, you must have full mental capacity at the time of making it. You can apply through the government’s online portal, or instruct a solicitor to manage the process on your behalf. The LPA must be signed by you, your chosen attorney(s), and a certificate provider who confirms you understand what you are signing and are not under pressure. It must then be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used.
How long does conveyancing usually take?
Most property sales complete within 8–12 weeks from the point of sale agreed, though this varies depending on chain complexity, leasehold complications, and search timescales. We will give you a realistic timeline at the start and keep you updated whenever anything changes.
Does remortgaging affect my credit rating?
Yes, lenders will carry out credit checks as part of the process, which can have a temporary impact on your credit score.
Can I instruct you online, or do I need to come to the office?
You can instruct us entirely online — we can carry out a virtual valuation via video call, send all documentation electronically, and keep the whole process paperless right through to completion. Of course, you are always welcome to visit us or have us come to the property in person. We work around what suits you best.
How much does a property purchase solicitor cost?
The cost of buying a home can vary depending on a few different factors. You can find a transparent breakdown of our charges on our website, or contact us and we will be able to offer you a bespoke quote.
How much does it cost to write a will?
The cost of writing a Will depends on your circumstances, whether that’s a straightforward single Will, a mirror Will for couples, or something more complex involving trusts. We’ll always give you a clear, upfront quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
